Clark Response

Clark adds her own personal experience into the mix of the statistics to appeal to the emotions of the audience. Most people walk through life thinking nothing will ever happen to them, which is a little like what Clark did. Once something happened to her, she was out of insurance and had to fight her way back through debt and illness. Her personal experience allows the audience to see that stuff like this really does happen in our world, they are not just statistics, they are real people that go through with these hardships. A real life example helps the reader imagine themselves in the writers situation and get a better perspective on the situation as a whole.

I really understand your point about her explaining her hardship along with the factually evidence that comes with it.

I like how you said that Clark appeals to her readers' emotions. It makes the audience think twice about whether something like this could happen to them.
