Interstate Highway system

The vice president give a lot of advice as to why the interstate highway system is in need of change. He gives fact like the growing number of cars between the years of 1920 an d 1954. Nixon also talks about the deaths caused by the old highway system in comparison to the war death toll. This put things into perspective for the listener and adds a severity to the problem. Nixon also goes on to talk about the court claims because of the old highway system. Nixon's final point in this argument is the systems poor defence against was and disasters.

The new highway system is said by Nixon to solve the problems of speedy, safe, transcontinental travel. This would help to improve the movement of Americans and to make it more convient. Nixon also appeals to the audience by proposing that each state be the Governor of it's own area. This things in the proposal are used to help sway the audience towards the presidents points.
