Marine

The web site was designed in this way because the army actually wants people to join. If you wanted someone to buy a sofa you wouldn't tell them it will wear out in a year, you would tell them it is comfortable and will inhance the user's life. Likewise, the army focuses on the positive aspects of the military: success, feelings of accomplishment, as opposed to the negative aspects: hardships or even death. The military is trying to sell something just like a couch salesman. It's a very old tactic.

I like how you compared the Marine recruiters to salesmen. They know that most people, after seeing such appealing information, they will not look into other issues with the Marine Corps. The recruiters are deliberately misleading people into joining the Marines. They know that emphasis on the positive will appeal to people much better than the whole picture. If people were aware of the negatives, then they might think twice about enlisting.
