I think that Clark gives her personal experience along with the statics because it it gives the reader a first hand example that any one can become part of those simple, commonly over looked numbers. She makes the reader feel that health insurance is very important because she gives the affects of what happen to her just from getting a mild illness. Her personal experience also makes the reader more willing to agree with her position if the reader can connect with what the author is saying.
